What is the most challenging part of writing an essay for you? Is it brainstorming, organizing ideas, writing a strong thesis, or something else? How do you plan to overcome this challenge?

The most challenging part about the essay writing process for me is actually getting the essay started. The planning and the finishing of the essay always come easy to me, but getting those first couple of words on the paper is difficult for me and makes the end of the essay feel further away than it is. I overcome this challenge by thinking about all of the different ways to start an essay and make it memorable, then I apply that to the information I have written down and create a start to my essay that envelops what I am about to write about.

Choose one moment from the film that stood out to you and explain why. Then, connect the film’s message to Langston Hughes’ poem “I, Too” and to the mask you are creating in class. What part of your identity do you want your mask to reveal?
